Writer-director Midhun Manuel Thomas, who has become a household name among Malayalam cinephiles, is best known for directing the crime thriller Anjaam Pathiraa and the latest blockbuster Abraham Ozler. But did you know his debut film was Ohm Shanthi Oshaana for which he wrote the screenplay?

As the Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim-starrer completes 10 years today, the writer-director took to his social media handles to share a note of gratitude. He expressed his joy over completing 10 years in the industry and thanked his fans and well-wishers for the support. Sharing a screengrab of the 2014 Facebook post which was posted during the release of Ohm Shanthi Oshaana, the writer-director wrote, “My cinema journey has completed 10 years..!! Ohm Shanthi Oshana was released today, ten years ago. My heartfelt thanks to each and everyone - friends, critics, fellow film guys, the cinegoers - who have supported me throughout..! I hope I can stay a little more to narrate some more tales..!! (sic)”.

For the unversed, Ohm Shanthi Oshaana was directed by 2018 director Jude Anthany Joseph and the screenplay was penned by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The film, which released in 2014, had Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim playing the lead roles. The film went on to become a blockbuster and became a cult classic among audiences across languages.

Nazriya on 10 years of Ohm Shanthi Oshaana - 'Still gives me goosebumps’

Nazriya, who essayed the role of Pooja Mathew, too shared a note, remembering the film on its 10th anniversary. The actress says that even after 10 years of its release, people remember her as Pooja. “Happy 10..A decade ago Om Shanti Oshana released …Till today …so many people call me Pooja … it still gives me goosebumps …she was a rowdy baby so much more than just that n everyone’s fav,” the actress wrote.

Midhun Manuel Thomas on the work front

Meanwhile, the busy writer-director's latest crime thriller Abraham Ozler has turned out to be yet another blockbuster in his career. The director is currently working on Mammootty’s action-comedy flick titled Turbo. The film is helmed by Vysakh and the screenplay is written by Midhun.
