10 years of Naaigal Jaakirathai: Directed by Shakti Soundar Rajan, the movie revolves around a policeman and his service dog searching for his abducted wife
It has been ten years since the release of the Tamil film Naaigal Jaakirathai starring actor Sibiraj in the lead role. The film is available for streaming on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium app, if you would like to stream or revisit it.
Naaigal Jaakirathai is a 2014 Tamil comedy thriller film, written and directed by filmmaker Shakti Soundar Rajan. It features actor Sibiraj in the lead role, along with a German Shepherd canine. Inspired from the 1989 film Turner & Hooch, the film revolves around a policeman who with the help of a trained service dog, tried to find his abducted wife.
On the occasion of the film turning 10 years, you can stream the film on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium app. Naaigal Jaakirathai is backed by veteran actor Sathyaraj, and went on to become a profitable venture for the team. Others part of the cast include Arundhati, Balaji Venugopal, Manobala, Mayilsamy, and others. The music was composed by Dharan Kumar, with camera cranked by Nizar Shifi and Praveen K. L as editor. Naaigal Jaakirathai is one of the few Tamil films to have a dog as one of the protagonists. If you are dog-lover, you can tune in this film for a weekend watch.
Pariyerum Perumal, the debut film of filmmaker Mari Selvaraj, features an indie species dog Karuppi, as the central theme of the film. The dog had recently passed away and the canine’s presence in the film, gave a different perspective on the caste-ridden society.
If you are looking to watch a film on lighter vein, there is Arun Vijay-starrer Oh My Dog about a young boy who finds a blind Huskey dog and trains him for a competition. Both these films are available for streaming on Prime Video.
