In a recent exclusive interview with OTTplay, filmmaker Raaj Shaandilyaa opened up about his decision to cast Mallika Sherawat in his highly anticipated film, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. Rajkummar Rao and Triptii Dimri play the lead roles in the film, slated for release on October 11, 2024.

Shaandilyaa shared that convincing Mallika was surprisingly effortless. "There was no need to convince her," he told us, adding, "Woh aayi aur boli 'Ok, great character, let's do it!'" (She came and said, "Ok, great character, let's do it!")
Mallika, last seen in the 2022 release RK/RKay had been waiting for something fresh and exciting. "Woh bas kuch interesting ka wait kar rahi thi, kuch aisa jo unko excite kare" Shaandilyaa explained. (She was waiting for that kind of stuff—something interesting to come her way.)

He further elaborated on the initial confusion during their conversation: "Jab maine unko phone kiya, toh unko laga main dance karane ke liye bula raha hoon. Unhone pucha, 'Kya hai? Kaunsa gaana hai?' Main bola, 'Gaana nahi hai, ek role hai.'" (When I called her, she thought I was inviting her for a dance number. She asked, 'What is it? Which song?' I said, 'It's not a song, it's a role.')
