Gaurav Pandey plays the role of Dhiraj Paswan in the Kajol-starring Disney+ Hotstar series.

Gaurav Pandey plays a pivotal role in The Trial which features Kajol in the leading role. However, this is not his first web series. The actor was a part of the OTT world before it had a name. Gaurav starred in Y-Films' first original series, Man's World, back in 2015, which was a sleeper hit instantly. In the series, Kiran (Gaurav) thinks guys have it pretty rough in this world. He finally had enough and prayed for the gender roles of men and women to be reversed.

The series assumes women are as disrespectful to men as men are to women. It's a tale that asks you to put yourself in their situation.

When asked about the OTT boom since then, Gaurav exclusively told OTTplay, "I think the whole industry has changed because OTT came and just took over everything. I also believe that OTT came, joined the TV industry and the film industry, and made them one. Now everyone can do anything. It's almost like that; it's opened so many doors for so many actors, so many people working behind the camera, and stuff. So it's a new world altogether, and I'm loving it. It's that easy right now. I don't have to go to a cinema hall or sit in front of a television to watch a particular show on a particular channel. So it's all there; it's very easily accessible, and anyone can watch it. So I think the industry is changing very fast. It has changed."

However, very little of Gaurav's work is seen onscreen. When asked the reason behind it, the actor shared, "That's the irony; I am very shy, but when the camera says 'action,' I'm a different person. That is, I think, the irony and also the magic, which is what I'd say for me. I've always been a very introverted and observant person. My parents used to be like, 'Hey, we're all dancing; come dance with us.' I would say, 'No, no, no,' and I was always like that."

He added, "So having said that, I think I also get really excited when I get something really interesting to play with. In the past, I have said no to a lot of things and yes to a lot of things. So I've done a few things; there's also a film coming up, again on Disney+ Hotstar, which is coming out right after this release. I've done a Hollywood film that is releasing on channel E in the US. Hopefully, I get more work."

Gaurav plays the role of Dhiraj Paswan, a junior associate, alongside Kajol's Noyonika Sengupta in The Trial.
