Karan Kundrra, recently seen in Tera Kya Hoga Lovely, has opened up about a stereotype about him. The actor exclusively told OTTplay that he only gets rich roles.
Karan Kundrra's 2024 has kicked off with a Hindi film release, Tera Kya Hoga Lovely. The actor plays Guggu in the movie, which is directed by Balwinder Singh Janjua. After the movie hit the silver screen, OTTplay exclusively interviewed Karan. In conversation with us, the actor opened up about the way he has been stereotyped in certain kinds of roles. The 39-year-old stated that an actor also has a responsibility to look a certain way for his character.
Karan Kundrra was asked if he had ever been stereotyped or judged in auditions based on his physicality. To this end, the actor told OTTplay, "There has been a bit of a stereotype with me. I only get rich roles. But I don't disagree with the fact."
He added that filmmaker Balwinder Singh Janjua didn't force him to do Tera Kya Hoga Lovely. The director told Karan to do the film only if he found it good. "I am not just talking about him. If anybody has spent time and focused on a character and shown confidence in you, then aapki bhi duty banti hain to at least bring that physicality to the character. Acting director sambhal lega. When I go on the set with Bali paji, I say I don't know anything, you say and then we discuss. I know he is there. He can't handle the physicality. If Guggu has to look a certain way, then it has to look a certain way," mentioned Kundrra.
The actor further pointed out, "Abhi, US mein bohot wokeism chal raha hain. That is extra and it has become a joke but not with us here. Thankfully, it has not reached. We have made a very good film with a good topic and we will stick to that."
While Karan's film Tera Kya Hoga Lovely has been released in cinemas, the actor has an OTT project lined up for release next. The 39-year-old will be seen in Tanveer Bookwala's web series Love Adhura with Erica Fernandes. Their web show is scheduled to be released on Amazon miniTV on March 13, 2024.
