After working in television serials for over 17 years, Raunak Dey Bhowmick is all set to debut on OTT with Hoichoi’s Bijoya. Directed by Sayantan Ghosal, the series has Swastika Mukherjee in the lead.
Raunak Dey Bhowmick is a popular face on TV. He worked in superhit serials, including Krishnakoli, Lokkhi Kakima Superstar (Zee Bangla), Alta Phoring, Tunte, Tomader Rani (Star Jalsha) and Tumii Je Amar Maa (Colors Bangla). After working in television serials for over 17 years, Raunak is all set to debut on OTT. He will play a key character in Hoichoi’s Bijoya. Directed by Sayantan Ghosal, the series has Swastika Mukherjee in the lead.
OTTplay reported about the serial first. Billed as a drama, the series, Bijoya, also features Shaheb Chattopadhyay and Bidipta Chakraborty. Raunak has kept his character under wraps. “My character is not revealed just to avoid any spoilers,” he said.
To his excitement, Raunak shares the screen with Swastika in the series. “I have been a fan and was rightfully nervous before our shoot. I called her Nikhjoj co-actress and my friend Saoli Chattopadhyay to get some tips. She calmed me down and said, ‘You will enjoy working with Swastika.” She was right. Swastika is sincere and invests in every single shot. It was easy working with her,” he said.

In fact, this was the first time Raunak worked with Sayantan. “Initially, we thought we were the same age or close. Later, we discovered that I'm younger. However, we really gelled well. I will work with him in Madam Sengupta,” he said.
Raunak got the offer of his debut work through a former colleague of ETV. “I really liked the production. Bengali productions are usually rushed upon. This one is not that. I am pretty happy and looking forward to the release,” said the actor.
Bijoya is modelled around the infamous ragging incident at Jadavpur University which shook the country. Swastika plays the character of the mother of a young boy who came to study at a big university in a small town. After a grisly incident, the boy becomes clinically unconscious. His family is told that he attempted suicide but her mother finds out the truth. Shaheb plays the antagonist – a powerful person who impacts the case. This is a fresh series that was not part of Hoichoi’s slate announcement last year.
