Kay Kay Menon will be seen with Ranvir Shorey in a new web series, Shekhar Home. In OTTplay's interview, the actor reacted to work offers drying up for his co-star.

Kay Kay Menon is gearing up for the release of his new OTT project, Shekhar Home. It is a detective drama, wherein Kay Kay plays the lead role. He stars alongside Ranvir Shorey, who was recently seen in Bigg Boss OTT 3. Ahead of their series' premiere, OTTplay exclusively interviewed Menon, who reacted to work offers drying up for his co-star Ranvir. In BB OTT 3's first episode, Shorey told his co-contestant Shivani Kumari, "If I had work, why would I be here today?"

In an exclusive chat with OTTplay, Kay Kay Menon shared his thoughts about Ranvir Shorey being out of work, which led him to do the reality show Bigg Boss OTT 3. The actor said, "Ideally, if that is happening (work offers drying up for Shorey), it is an injustice, according to me. Because he is a fantastic actor. There is no way that this industry can ignore him or should ignore him. This is my little take on that."

He further shared his experience of working with Ranvir in the JioCinema series, Shekhar Home. Menon quipped, "He is my partner-in-crime (in the series). It was a great pleasure (to work with him). We kind of hit it off. There were improvisations, which the audience won't realise, but the cast and crew will. He is an extremely happy-go-lucky guy. We hit it off fantastically. It was great fun."

Kay Kay Menon reveals why he did Shekhar Home

Continuing this conversation, Kay Kay revealed what attracted him to doing Srijit Mukherji's series Shekhar Home. The actor recalled, "When I went through the script, I realised this is a different world altogether. It is the world of the 1990s, when there was no technology in terms of telecommunication. That is the world we are talking about. It is set in the sleepy town of Lonpur. I have seen these kinds of towns in my extreme childhood."

Menon also spoke about his role in the series. The actor believes his character, Shekhar, is unique and seems to be a man who sets the pace by himself. "When you play a detective, there is a certain pace that the detective profession decides. But here, Shekhar decides the pace of that particular investigation. It just became a reverse thing for me and I found that I could contribute a lot to it as an actor," he said, signing off.

Shekhar Home will premiere on JioCinema on August 14, 2024.
