Gippy Grewal says people felt Punjabi cinema was 'small': Carry On Jatta 3 changed... | Exclusive

Gippy Grewal delivered a blockbuster movie, Carry On Jatta 3 earlier this year. The Punjabi artist played a pivotal role in the film alongside Sonam Bajwa, Binnu Dhillon, and others. The film was released on June 29 and went on to become one of the highest-grossing films in the Punjabi cinema.

During Maujaan Hi Maujaan's promotional spree, OTTplay sat down with Gippy for an exclusive interaction. In conversation with us, the actor revealed how Carry On Jatta 3's success changed the way people looked at the Punjabi cinema.

Gippy Grewal on the after-effect of Carry On Jatta 3's success

The Maujaan Hi Maujaan actor agreed on the fact that his last theatrical release left a great impact.

When asked if he feels Carry On Jatta 3 changed people's perspective toward the Punjabi film industry, Gippy said, "Of course, 100%! A lot of people thought Punjabi cinema was a chota (small) cinema. They felt our films weren't up to the mark. However, Carry On Jatta 3 has changed a lot of things."

"A lot of people wouldn't watch Punjabi films. But Carry On Jatta 3 is one such film that anyone, who has seen a Punjabi film, has seen the same. The scenario has completely changed. It (the film's success) has left a huge impact on the Punjabi film industry. People have now started taking it seriously," added Grewal.

Gippy Grewal on Bollywood producers wanting to make Punjabi films

The actor went on to mention that Bollywood producers are now willing to invest in Punjabi films. "Now, a lot of Bollywood producers come to Punjab and say they wish to produce Punjabi films and provide a big budget for making them," revealed Gippy.

What's next for the actor?

Work-wise, Gippy's upcoming movie is Maujaan Hi Maujaan. The movie is set to release in cinemas on October 20, 2023.
