Shruti Das is all set to join Paoli in Aritra Sen’s political thriller, Julie – a web series for Addatimes.
By her admission, Shruti Das is a resident of two cities – Mumbai and Kolkata. After working in Mumbai, the actress debuted in the Bengali film industry with Srijit Mukherji’s X=Prem. Later, she also impressed the audience and critics with her performance in Debaloy Bhattacharya’s Shri Swapankumarer Badami Hyenar Kobole with Abir Chatterjee and Paran Bandyopadhyay. Now, Shruti is all set to join Paoli in Aritra Sen’s political thriller, Julie – a web series for Addatimes. Before she starts shooting, the actress talks about her characters.
The web series also features Kaushik Sen, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, and Gourab Chatterjee. Shruti plays the character of Reshmi, Sanjay Mitra’s (Kaushik) daughter. “She is in her late 20s. She is ambitious and has a complex relationship with her city, Kolkata, and her father. I have never played anything like this before. It will take a lot of twists. I am really intrigued by her,” she says.

How did the offer come to Shruti? “Aritra watched X=Prem. He and I have been thinking of collaborating for a while. Things were not happening due to dates etc. Finally, this came along,” she admits.
Shruti plays an important character in Debaloy’s Shri Swapankumarer Badami Hyenar Kobole. While the film failed at the box office, it garnered critical appreciation from different quarters. “I will remember my experience of working in this film forever. It was an absolute delight to work in a film like this. The world that Debaloy created is not linear or easy to explain. He had the idea in his mind. He has an indescribable amount of belief in his vision. It was brave of him to think something like this,” she says.

Talking about her experience, Shruti says, “The shooting was like a warzone. We shot in the middle of a sea and then my character constantly dies in the middle of a road. Monsoon washed away our shooting for two days. And then, there were days when I went to the floors preparing something and realised everything got changed. But I am so proud to be a film like this.”
Shruti runs between Mumbai and Kolkata very often. “I will complete the shooting of Julie. I will also spend Holi here in Kolkata and then fly back to Mumbai,” she said. Is she dating? “No way,” pat came the reply. “O am too busy travelling between two cities and have literally no time to date anyone. I am very happy with my cat, Miguel. I did not adopt him he adopted me. Right now he is staying with my friend in Mumbai. As soon as I go there, he will be back and I am happy for now,” she says.
