The actress also talked about X=Prem that was dropped on Hoichoi on Friday.
Within a week of her X=Prem getting dropped on Hoichoi, Shruti Das is all geared up with her national release, Dr. Arora. Directed by Sajid Ali and Archit Kumar, the series features Kumud Mishra, Vidya Malavade, Sandeepa Dhar, Shekhar Suman and others. Imtiyaz Ali is the creative director of the show. Shruti will be seen as a newly married woman from a small town.
Based on the ’60s Gwalior, the film delves into the interaction of Dr. Arora – Gupt Rog Visheshak or a sex doctor – with his patients. “This is my second web series after Happily Ever After for Zoom Studios. It is a sex comedy that deals with a lot of taboos and social conditions. It is based in the 60s and understandably, it talks about a society that was much more guarded. My character, like many other characters, raises a lot of questions on how women are looked at in society,” explains the actress.
Shruti is also quite excited after working with Imtiaz Ali. “We interacted a number of times. He is very precise and he knows what he wants. Meanwhile, I worked mostly with his brother Sajid. He is an emotionally driven man. He helped me portray my character Putul,” she says.
Meanwhile, Shruti’s Bengali work, Srijit Mukherji’s X=Prem, was dropped on Hoichoi on Friday. While the film has not done well at the box office, its online release of it has a positive response. “X=Prem will always be close to my heart. It is my first film. I have received a lot of warmth and good responses. Yes, it did not do well financially. But you win some and lose some. Now that it is available online, I am getting messages every day. People liked our work and that matters,” says the actress.
