After the popularity on TV, what makes you say yes to a web series?
Being an actor, my objective is to explore various channels to reach more audiences. I know my television viewers are not OTT viewers. The younger generation between 13 and 35 years old watch my serials on Disney+ Hotstar. I wanted to reach out to the OTT-viewing audience. Besides OTT, I recently worked on a music video with Puja Banerjee. On the other hand, not just OTT or TV, I would like to explore my characters as well.
Tell us about your character in Shaktirupenn…
I play the character of an ambitious businessman. He deeply loves this girl – the character played by Basabdatta. The problem is, he loves his career as well. What happens between them, and how he prioritises, is one of the key tensions in the show. Besides, the story revolves around a gang rape in Sutia. It is an interesting show.
How was your experience working with Basabdatta?
I have never met her before – not in any party or set. I met her for the first time while working on this show. She is thoroughly professional. She knows her job. I find it easy to work with co-actors/actresses if they get into the character. It was amazing working with her. Besides, we gelled well and that chemistry was reflected on the screen.

You are back on the TV after Nabab Nandini. How are you feeling about this comeback?
It was a deliberate effort to take this gap after Nabab Nandini and this is something I always try to do. I take my time to wear off the character I play for days on TV. For each character, I imbibe a few characteristics. I take time to wash that off. Moreover, I think it works for the audience as well. They see us in a character and with this gap, the previous character lingers longer.
