Soon after Doctor G Rakul Preet Singh will next be seen in Thank God.
Rakul Preet Singh is getting a lot of praise right now for her role as a gynaecologist in the movie Doctor G. The actor is in the movie with Ayushmann Khurrana and Shefali Shah. The movie is Anubhuti Kashyap's directorial debut. It's been more than 12 years since Rakul has been a part of the film industry. She has starred in films not only in Hindi but also in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. During an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, the actor was quizzed about the roles she wants to do now and also which she might not take up at this stage of her career.
Rakul excusively told us, "I want to really do a romantic film, a love story. I'm dying to. I'm a sucker for romance. I would love to do a historical film or maybe even a biopic. Apart from the masala, I want to do everything. I want to do all kinds of roles, but I definitely want to do a love story."
The actor further said, "I think what I don't want to do is something that is a complete no-no for me, something that I can't watch with my parents. And something that is cringey: everything done in aesthetic taste is good. But if there's something that's cringey and I can't watch it with my parents, then how can I expect the audience to enjoy it with their families?"
The Runway 34 actor further spoke about how the length of the role matters to her when asked about the characters being written for female actors nowadays. She shared, "I don't think that the length of the role matters. It's whether the film can be made without you or not. If your role is important to the main plot of the storyline, right? If you are involved in the main plot of the storyline, then there is importance you bring to the story. That is my first point."
"Secondly, I think you can always make your choices. Yeah, there are all kinds of films. I wouldn't say that films are not being made today. There are enough actors doing great films, like Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut, Taapsee Pannu, all these people are doing a lot of films which are driven by them. I mean, look at Shefali Shah; the kind of work that she's doing. So I think the writing has evolved. So there's a choice that you can make. Being an actor, you want to do both. Sometimes you want to do a masala film with song and dance; sometimes you want to do something that shows your performance. So I think it's a permutation combination," added Rakul.
She concluded by saying, "What clicks for me at that point, what enters my mind, where I am in my mind at that point, is what determines what I want to do."
Rakul Preet Singh will next be seen in Thank God alongside Ajay Devgn and Sidharth Malhotra.
