The Tejas Vijay Deoskar directorial also stars Sumeet Vyas and Satish Kaushik in key roles.
Chhatriwali is an upcoming social comedy film that advocates a healthy conversation on sex education and also talks about female health, contraceptives and more. Starring Rakul Preet Singh and Sumeet Vyas opposite each other, the movie is all set to release on ZEE5 soon.
In a recent chat with OTTplay, the lead actress shared how as a teenager she decided to skip an important class in school and why it is very important to learn everything about the reproductive system at that age.
Rakul shared, "So with me, it didn't happen that teachers skipped the important chapter but we were wanting to skip, we used to be shy. And now when I think about it, I feel it's so wrong. Because somewhere as a society, we are not giving the right knowledge the right way. Because it's a part of our books in the ninth standard you have the biology chapter, we read the digestion system and we read the respiratory system very nicely but when it comes to the reproductive system we all want to skip it. But we as a society are failing to understand its importance. And I wonder why because if the educational system has made it a mandate, and if it is the truth of our existence then it is normal.
"It's that's how human beings are made. And you will have puberty, you will have hormonal changes. This is how your body functions and its knowledge about your own body. So if we are educated we will not take steps which affect our life. which are life-threatening. And I feel that it's so important that the teachers that teach in school now are maybe not conscious about what they're teaching. And parents start these conversations at home at the right age, so that we don't giggle in those classes. And we treat it as any other aspect of our body as physical health, emotional health, mental health, and sexual health, all the same," she added.
Satish Kaushik, Dolly Ahluwalia, Rajesh Tailang, Prachee Shah Paandya, and Rakesh Bed are the key characters in the Tejas Vijay Deoskar directorial, which is all set to have a direct-to-OTT release on January 20.
