Babita Phogat will be entering Kangana Ranaut-hosted Lock Upp with certain expectations in mind. Know what they are...
Much-loved woman wrestler Babita Phogat is joining Kangana Ranaut in the show Lock Upp. She had been announced as the fourth contestant on the show. While talking to OTTplay, Babita called Kangana a true patriot. She also happened to mention what she would like to offer to and take back from Lock Upp. Excerpts…
From wrestling to reality shows (I say reality shows because you have participated in Nach Baliye), what made you make the big switch?
I took up Lock Upp because it will be live for 24 hours. I feel like Lock Upp was created for me.
This will be your first time when people will see you 24x7. Since many Indians love you, the expectations are high. Does that make you nervous, especially because you are going to be in front of the cameras 24x7 for the very first time?
It is why I participated in the show. I want people to know what I like, dislike, how I live and work at home.
You are the first to be charged with 'breaking the stereotype', which is a positive switch on the show. What do you feel about that?
It is a nice feeling. I got to do something hatke. Obviously, I’ll enjoy it too and will also accept the challenges and get out of them.
You are the prime example of Aamir's dialogue Maari Choriyaan Choron Se Kam Hai Ke. What do you have to say about that?
Definitely. I agree that women aren’t any lesser than men. They never will be.
Your stories have mostly been an inspiration but of course, you have also been through a lot in life. What all do we expect to see in Lock Upp?
Even I can’t really tell what the situation on the show will be like. I have no idea on how the show will progress. I will be able to share that after actually being on the show.
From Aamir Khan portraying your story on-screen through Dangal to Kangana Ranaut controlling how much of your story comes out in Lock Upp, how far would you say you have come?
I will be a disciplined inmate. I don’t think anybody will have to discipline the already disciplined.
Have you ever interacted with Kangana before? Tell me about that. If not, how do you feel about working with her?
This is my first time working with Kangana ji. I’m very happy and excited to work with her. I believe she’s a true patriot.
You are even collaborating with Ekta Kapoor for Lock Upp. Tell me about that.
Ekta ji is TV’s queen. She’s also a dhakkad. When two dhakkad meet, they do something huge!
You even contested elections not very long ago. Do you have plans to go back to politics after the show?
Most definitely. I will go back to all the work I have been doing there. I’m the chairperson so it is my responsibility to take care of things. I would do anything required to motivate women. This show will help me do that as well to an extent.
Will we see Geeta on the show too?
I have no idea. We haven’t been told about anything and anyone. We might get to know something after some time.
Is the excitement for going on the show setting in?
Yes, it is. However, I get nervous when I look at my child. It becomes tough to handle myself after remembering what I’m leaving behind to go on the show.
What do you expect after Lock Upp? Do you have anything planned out?
My only plan is to be a strong woman when I leave from Lock Upp. I want to achieve my dream – of seeing women be self-sustaining. I’m hoping to learn something from the show that I can take back into the real world.
