“Poila Boishakh means notun jama (new clothes), bhuribhoj (gorging on good food), and spending the day with family and friends,” said Ambarish. “This year it is no different. In the evening, I will again get dressed in a notun jama and hop on to the shops that start their ‘halkhata’ (accounting book) on the say. There will be packets of sweets that we all will enjoy later,” he said.

Talking about the Poila Boishakh Menu, Ambarish said that he prefers mach over mutton on this day. “The day begins with luchi and brings in all sorts of Bengali delicacies. We make sure to enjoy fish as much as possible on this day. From chingri to ilish and bhekti – I love everything. On this day, I prefer mach over kosha mangsho,” the Kumudini Bhavan actor said.

Ambarish further clarified that he has no New Year resolution. “The problem with resolutions is it breaks your heart when you fail to keep up with the promise you make to yourself. To avoid that heartbreak, I avoid resolutions,” he said.
