Deeksha Joshi, last seen in Chaskela, spoke about being a Pratik Gandhi fan and eventually his friend.
Deeksha Joshi is a popular name in Gujarati cinema and she is all set to prove her mettle with her Bollywood debut in YRF’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar opposite Ranveer Singh. In an exclusive interaction with OTTplay, the actress, who has been a Pratik Gandhi fan and friend in recent times, confessed that she was in tears when he was widely appreciated for his performance in Scam 1992.
The actress is currently seen in Oho Gujarati’s new web show called Chaskela. She plays the character of Radhika, who is an extreme feminist and detests men to a great extent.
Excerpts from the interview:
How much do you relate to your character of Radhika in Chaskela?
When we were sitting down to discover the character, I continuously asked them about Radhika since I was curious to know why she was behaving the way she was. However, after a point, I stopped asking those questions because I understood she isn’t me and I need to respect that. She has her own beauty and struggles.
In the first season, she’s basically discovering something in herself that she forgot existed in her. It’s a beautiful journey because she’s the only one in the group with a different set of ideology. She also comes with a different kind of energy, which puts others in an uncomfortable situation too.
How did you prepare for the role?
I think it was mainly asking those questions. I had seen a couple of Radhikas around me but I didn’t know back then that they were like her. Once I heard some examples, I could also imagine a person who I met in college, who was Radhika. In fact, even I was Radhika at one point of time. It was during the time when I was studying about gender politics and discovered a new world. During the process, I became a little radical, which is how I relate to Radhika, because she is figuring out herself and trying to find a balance.
