Mayur Chauhan is currently seen in Pratik Kothari's web series Cutting opposite Hemang Shah.
Mayur Chauhan, also known as Michael, is currently seen in Oho Gujarati’s latest release Cutting. The series, which is based in a salon, sees him as one of the hairdressers there.
The Gujarati actor spoke to OTTplay exclusively about his role, past and upcoming projects among other things.
Talking about what attracted him to the role in Cutting, the actor shared, “More than the role, I was attracted to the script. I prefer being a part of a good script. I don’t think I’ve done anything like this previously. Of course, I had a cameo in Shu Thayu as a barber but that was different than this. I liked the fact that the characters learn from each other.”
He and Hemang Shah, who were last seen in the film Karsandas Pay & Use as brothers, went to barber shops for basic training to fit into the role of a barber/hairdresser. Elaborating about the story, the actor added, “This is about everybody’s life and the situations we go through, that we discuss with our barber. The best part about this series is how the customers get a solution to their problems.”
Mayur has been part of two of Gujarati’s highest-grossing films, Shu Thayu and Chello Divas. Ask him what is the formula which seems to have worked with the viewers and he says, “Friendship and humour in both the films was very relatable. The flavour was also about day-to-day language used. I think that could be the reason for its success.”
The actor feels that OTT is the future for content. “Definitely OTT is the future. Now especially since the COVID-19 situation, OTT has received quite a boost and there is also some good content there, so I definitely believe it is the future,” he shares.
Cutting released its first season on June 20, with the second season in prep. Director Pratik Kothari told OTTplay that the script for the second season is yet to be finalized.
