Sulaikha Manzil hit theatres on Friday.
Anarkali Marikar’s latest project came in the form of the Ashraf Hamza directorial Sulaikha Manzil, which saw her share the screen with Lukman Avaran. But it seems that despite being the central protagonists, the duo did not share much screen space together, as Anarkali recently revealed in an exclusive chat with OTTplay about the film.
Anarkali talked about how even though they were the two leads in the film, she and Lukman barely shared any scenes in the film. “The combination scenes we had in the film were very few, we had like three or four I think.
The story actually takes place at the respective houses of the bride and groom, on the eve of the wedding. So their interactions are mostly through phone calls and the scenes where they actually meet up are few”, she said.
Sharing a few light hearted moments in her dynamic with Lukman, Anarkali said “When we had to do scenes where our characters talked on the phone, Lukman actually used to call me and I was actually talking to him rather than just repeating my dialogues. He used to try and be in character at the time, but the funny thing was that if I messed up my lines or stuttered, Lukman used to tell me the correct dialogues .With Lukman, I had the freedom to discuss and talk about things. So it was a lovely dynamic and I had a great time working with him.
So all in all everyone on the sets of the film were very friendly and comfortable and I did not have any problem at all”, said Anarkali.
She also credited her director with making her feel comfortable on sets, saying “Ashraf sir too was as friendly as ever, and I think me nor any other actor has to stress about anything when working with him. Sir always made it feel as if we were friends who decided to make a movie together. He never made us feel stressed and even if there was something he was worried about, he never let it show so that as actors, we did not feel any kind of pressure at all. It was a very chill environment on sets”.
