Adah Sharma reflects on The Kerala Story's success: 'It has made permanent space for me in...' | Exclusive

In conversation with OTTplay, Adah Sharma reflected on the massive success of The Kerala Story. The actress revealed how it benefitted her.

Adah Sharma made her acting debut with the horror film 1920 in 2008. Since then, she has been actively working on Bollywood films and projects. Sharma also ventured into the South film industry for a few projects. Despite starring in multiple projects, Adah tasted major success only with her 2023 film The Kerala Story. In conversation with OTTplay, the actress said that she considers this project as the highest high of her acting career.

Speaking exclusively with us, Adah Sharma said The Kerala Story (also streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium) is one of the highest highs of her career. "It's The Kerala Story! It became the highest female-grossing film of all time and still is. It has made history and broken records. More than records, it has made permanent space for me in people's hearts," she said.

The actress also considers her first film 1920 as the high point of her career. "I was not from the industry and to be given a role like that and to be trusted with that... I mean, after that movie nobody doubted whether this girl could act or not. It was already like... she is an actress. To be given that role for my first film was a huge high for me," added Adah.

Did Adah Sharma experience lows in her career?

Reflecting on the lows of her career, the actress quipped, "Lows? There are countless and I can write a book on it (laughs). Somehow, it's strange that you have one high and it diminishes all the lows you had and everything makes up for it." Adah further mentioned why the entertainment industry is 'so addictive' to people.

In her opinion, it is addictive because the highs are so high in this industry that one just forgets about all their low moments. "And when you are in the lows and such situations, it feels like there's no hope ever (left). It is so strange," she said and signed off.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Adah Sharma will next be seen in the Disney+ Hotstar series Reeta Sanyal. It is scheduled for an OTT premiere on October 14, 2024.
