A still from OK Boss.

Renowned Gujarati actress Aarohi is currently seen in OK Boss. Interestingly, her character on the show has a ‘kleptomania’ angle. The same was currently seen in the Netflix anthology film Ray.

Talking to OTTplay exclusively, the actress revealed that it was a complete co-incidence. Apart from that, Aarohi spoke about her upcoming shows Kadak Mitthi 2, Sambhlo Chho 2 and what her future looks like.

Excerpts from the interview:

What made you say yes to OK Boss?

Since the story is similar to Kadak Mitthi, I felt intrigued. Abhishek (Producer) called me up and even before I could say yes or no, he started narrating the whole story to me. It was very exciting and the character he gave me, that wasn’t something I did before. That was completely on point. I already knew Kewal also and so things just fell into place.

What has been the response for the show?

I haven’t opened up social media so I don’t know much. I haven’t even seen the series. I’ll probably watch it with my family.

Your character has kleptomania, just like in Ray. Was that a co-incidence?

Completely. We shot the series in September 2020, so it’s a complete co-incidence.

What was your first thought when hearing your character?

It felt really funny. I was laughing when I found out she has kleptomania. When I read the script, the only thought I had was, “What is wrong with her!? Something is fishy.” She was doing the social work after being caught and got Dhaval also involved in that, so that was really funny.

What are you feeling like since you have OK Boss as well as Kadak Mitthi 2 releasing back-to-back?

It’s really nice. When Oho released their July character, I joked with them that it is my month. I have two projects I act in - OK Boss and Kadak Mitthi - and Sambhlo Chho 2 which I am producing and editing with my team.

Weren’t you approached to narrate in Sambhlo Chho?

For me personally, I cannot focus on acting if I’m involved in some other way. I especially cannot edit when I’m on screen. I’m also very apprehensive about how the people will perceive my role as an editor as well as actor on a project.

You have done many web series so far. What has the experience been like? Has it become a comfortable space for you?

I see web series as a source to experiment. The shoot gets over quicker. You don’t invest a lot of time with web series. It’s where people can experiment and take more risk. It’s been a good experience but I genuinely miss working on films too.

How would you say web series is different than a film?

There’s not so much investment in terms of time and finance. If I do a film, I live a character for 30-35 days. It’s too much to live with a character. You invest almost two months for workshop in films.

Have you started shooting for anything?

That will happen in September. While other people have, I haven’t started shooting for films yet.

What else do you have at hand?

There’s another film we started shooting for right before the lockdown began. We completed the shoot for that. It will release this year once theatres open up with 100% capacity. I’m also in talks for a few other projects, but they are in the scripting stage.
