Aanand L Rai, who is one of the producers of Tumbbad, said it feels nice when a 'well-told story and well-made film' reaches its audience even if takes six years for that. "But now the kind of love and reaction we are getting for the film is so overwhelming. You feel very happy about it. You feel happy about the creative people who made this film, and the passion that was involved while making this film. You feel happy for the actor, director, and DOP. It's a very well-done film. Der aaye durust aaye. It's fine, I am very happy," stated Rai.

On being asked if there's a difference in how the film was received in 2018 v/s now, Aanand mentioned, "There is a definite difference. But whosoever watched the film praised it then also. The number of people was less (who praised earlier). The thing is that then it stayed on an OTT platform for five years and people saw it. They regretted it by saying that 'we missed it on the big screen, it deserved a big screen experience'."

That said, Rai feels Tumbbad's 'timing went right' this time. "So, we calculated it right that this wait for 5 years and then it not being there on OTT for the last year, played the right tune," he added. The producer also feels that it's very soothing when makers can give the audience 2 hours of fulfillment. "They feel very happy," stated Aanand.

On Tumbbad 2's shoot and release

Before concluding the conversation, Aanand said Tumbbad 2 will require a lot of 'hard work' considering the immense love the first part got. "When you get this kind of love, and I experienced this during Tanu Weds Manu, it's not just easy to roll the sequel. You have to work very hard. The audience is like a family and it is habituated to a certain kind of love. I don't think it will be (released) so soon, but whenever it will, it will be there with the kind of expectation that it carries," he said and signed off.
