Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ranbir Kapoor
In the most happening news of the day, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his upcoming film as a director, Love & War. The most interesting part of the news is the casting coup he cracked with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal. With this "epic saga," Alia reunites with Bhansali after Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), while this marks the first outing between Vicky and the filmmaker. What caught everyone's attention was Ranbir reuniting with SLB after his debut film, Saawariya (2007).

Ranbir Kapoor's alleged fallout with Sanjay Leela Bhansali

This news has become a sensation for obvious reasons, as RK reportedly vowed not to work with the filmmaker as they had an alleged fallout after Saawariya. For the uninitiated, the actor had addressed the work culture he observed during the shoot. Back in 2016, on Neha Dhupia's podcast No Filter Neha Ranbir recalled, "He (Bhansali) was a hard taskmaster, and I was kneeling down on set; he was beating me... After a point, it got so heavy that I felt so tortured that I had to quit the film. I think it was like 10 or 11 months into my job, and I am like, 'Listen, I can't do this; it's getting to me.' I think I am too sensitive and emotional, and he got to know me so well, and he kind of kept poking into that. He got too much and went crazy as far as I was concerned."ALSO READ: Love & War - Netizens react to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt joining forces with Vicky Kaushal for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film; call them ‘super trio’However, the actor went on to praise SLB by stating, "Having said that, I think all my performances that I do in cinema all come from that experience, from him. He was a true teacher in that sense. He taught me everything in terms of acting, emotions, and stuff like that."Watch Tejas, Expendables 4, Australian Open, Cubicles 3, and more on OTTplay, by subscribing to the Jhakaas monthly pack, which provides access to 22 OTTs at just ₹49 for the first month.

Bhansali's perspective on the reported fallout

On the other hand, Bhansali also refuted rumours of fallout with Ranbir and clarified in an interview, "Ranbir is my favourite bachcha (kid). He is a part of something that I created in Saawariya. He is very dear to me. So, whenever you make a film, you always feel, ‘Let’s think of Ranbir in the role, or what if Ranbir is roped in for the part?’ So, it’s not that we offered him the role seriously and he turned it down."When asked about the reports of the tiff between them, the Devdas helmer also said, "Nothing of that sort is true. Everything is fine."

Speculations and avoidance

Amid all this, a couple of years ago, Bollywood Hungama reported that Ranbir was avoiding meeting Bhansali on the sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi which featured the actor's then girlfriend, Alia. A source told the entertainment portal that Bhansali is someone Ranbir would rather not meet in person. After RK's debut in Bhansali's Saawariya, there was a huge rift between SLB and him. Their relationship deteriorated to the point where the actor swore he would never collaborate with the filmmaker again, and he was true to his word. The source also said that even if offered the most prestigious role in the world, Ranbir would refuse to collaborate with Bhansali and he would want to avoid him at all costs. However, bygones be bygones! Seeing Ranbir Kapoor in a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film after nearly 18 long years is definitely long-awaited and worth the wait.ALSO READ: Love & War - Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next magnum opus with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal | Here’s what we knowShare
